Solana validators prepared the new version after the network experienced problems caused by a sudden increase in transaction volume. Arbitrum ONE also had problems. To make matters worse, someone tried to hack Ethereum.

Ethereum’s rival, Solana (SOL), lost 15% of its value in the last 24 hours after experiencing a disruption related to access to services (DoS) it offers.

Yesterday, at around 14:30 our time, Solana Status announced on Twitter , that Solana’s mainnet

beta experienced instability over a period of 45 minutes.

Six hours later

As Solana engineers were unable to stabilize the network, the validation community decided to coordinate a network restart. Read more about this

on the project’s Discord.

In the last 12 hours, the price of SOL has dropped by 15%. SOL has already retreated from its September 9 high ($215), to below $175 (before the incident). On the wave of reports of the incident, the price fell to $145.

According to

a

tweet published today, Solana developers managed to restart the network:

community successfully completed a restart of Mainnet Beta after an upgrade to 1.6.25. Dapps, block explorers, and supporting systems will recover over the next several hours, at which point full functionality should be restored. –

Arbitrum

Solana is not the only network that had problems yesterday. Arbitrum One <a href=”https://medi

that its sequencer was down for about 45 minutes.

Although the Arbitrum One team insisted that users’ funds were “never at risk,” no new transactions could be submitted during this period. Offchain Labs, the team building Arbitrum One, also noted that the network is still in beta and warned that “further outages are possible during this early period.”

The Arbitrum developers attributed the outage

to

“a bug causingthe sequencer to lock

up

,” which was said to occur after a very large batch of transactions were sent to it in a short period of time.

On top of that… Ethereum

An unknown entity also tried to attack Ethereum yesterday. Programmer Marius Van Der Wijden described

the failed incident on Twitter.

According to the developer, only a small number of Nethermind nodes were tricked into switching to the invalid chain, and all others “rejected

long sidechain as invalid.”

All affected nodes have since been reorganized back to the correct chain.
