Will it be possible to pay parking tickets with Bitcoin & Co. across Europe in the near future? At least this is what the companies Seety, Shop.com and Wordline have set their sights on. They are the latest companies to accept cryptocurrencies as a means of payment.
Seety allows customers to pay parking tickets with Bitcoin & Co.
Seety is a Belgian digital parking company. Now it allows customers in Antwerp and Brussels to pay their parking tickets with Bitcoin (BTC). In addition, payment in Ethereum (ETH), Dogecoin (DOGE) and four other cryptocurrencies is also possible. Unfortunately, this payment option only applies in Brussels and Antwerp for now, according to DataNews
Those who want to use this payment option will have to purchase Seety Credits through the app. Seven different cryptocurrencies can be used in the app. These would be Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), Dogecoin (DOGE), Dai (DAI) and USD Coin (USDC).
Seety was founded by Nicolas Cognaux and Hadrien Crespin. Seety is a digital parking application that works in Belgium, France, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. The app already has more than 350,000 active users and the company expects to generate €400,000 in revenue this year.
At the same time, Seety is a part of the start-up accelerator Start it @ KBC and is an absolute supporter of digital currencies. Seety also expects digital assets to become much greener in the future. At the same time, this also means that the adoption of digital assets could increase significantly.
More and more companies are offering payment with Bitcoin & Co.Even
Shop.com recently enabled its customers to pay for their purchases with digital assets. In collaboration with Bitcoin service provider BitPay, customers can now use digital assets to pay for their purchases. In doing so, customers have the option to pay with Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Ethereum (ETH), Dogecoin (DOGE), Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC), Litecoin (LTC), and 5 USD-linked stablecoins (GUSD, USDC, PAX, DAI, and BUSD). <p>Further on, payment services company Wordline jumped on the bandwagon. The integrated service WL Crypto Payments, from Worldline and Bitcoin Suisse allows, now 85,000 merchants from Switzerland to accept digital assets as a payment option.
Those of the Swiss merchants who want to participate in the offer will need to download the WL Crypto Payments mobile application. Customers, on the other hand, can make the payment using their crypto wallet mobile app. Wordline Switzerland CEO Marc Schluep commented as follows:
‘The launch of cryptocurrency acceptance at POS in Switzerland is a great testament to our ambition: Worldline wants to deliver tangible value to merchants around the world and enable frictionless and modern payments in all markets where we operate.
In addition, a coffee shop in Louisville is also planning to accept DOGE as a payment method. In the process, the shop even vowed to change its name and change the coffee shop to “Dogebean”. However, the shop is currently closed for rebranding and customers can only order online.
Now, of course, we’re curious to see which businesses will be next and use Bitcoin & Co. as a payment method. It would be nice to read such news from Germany from time to time. But we will probably have to wait quite a while for this.
