Ethereum scaling solution has begun supporting USD Coin

(USDC) stablecoin, according to a

tweet

published on August 11. Users can now deposit USDC tokens through the Layer 2 scaling solution. To start depositing, users can simply select USDC on the Optimism Gateway.

The integration means that transferring and interacting with USDC will be much faster and at a lower cost. This could have a huge impact on the market as fees and transaction times were slowing DeFi

down. Sponsored

Optimistic Ethereum is a Layer 2 scaling solution for Ethereum that has already shown tremendous results. Several DeFi protocols have already begun integrating the solution, including Synthetix, which added three synthesizers in July. Opium Network unveiled the Optimism oracle for DeFi

in April 2021, changing the way oracles are used for pricing and data.

However, it’s not all good news for optimists this week. Sushiswap CTO Joseph Delong lashed out at the company for what he saw as preferential treatment. He posted a message on Twitter to talk about his problems and had strong words for the project’s management.

This Twitter thread

sparked a lively discussion. Sushiswap stated that it would take a “wait and see approach that prefers reliably neutral platforms” and then referred to Arbitrum. The latter also uses Optimistic’s rollup to scale its Ethereum network.

Delong said Optimistic executives preferred Uniswap over SushiSwap. He mentions that after deploying Optimism Kovan to the test network and setting up the entire process, they were told that Uniswap

“had to go first.”

The SushiSwap team reportedly asked if they “would be treated equally during the implementation.” The CTO’s words were harsh, asking other projects to do the same as SushiSwap “until Optimism makes any attempt at credible neutrality as an operator.”

Optimism responded directly to Delong’s comments

, saying that it whittles down projects as quickly as possible while maintaining the security of the alpha system. He went on to say that Uniswap was implemented first because “they engaged with us 1.5 years ago, long before Sushiswap” and “First in, first out is not a ‘game of favorites.'”

Arbitrum recently launched its organic portal Aribtrum One, which contains over 70 decentralized apps(dApps), wallets or tools. It is working to expand this ecosystem and is strongly focused on being developer-friendly.
