Liquid Exchange Hack
As of today, Thursday, Aug. 19, 2021, Liquid Exchange announced via Twitter that they have been the victim of a hack attack. Because of this, deposits and withdrawals on the Japan-registered exchange have been temporarily suspended.
According to the exchange’s social media team, the hacker was only able to gain access to the exchange’s hot wallets. Currently, Liquid is making transactions to transfer all cryptocurrencies that are still on hot wallets so far to cold wallets.
Liquid released several public keys attributed to the hacker. The first crypto exchange, KuCoin has already taken action and blacklisted these wallet addresses.
More than $80 million worth of cryptocurrencies were captured in the hack, according to The Block. These are made up of $4.7 million in BTC, $69 million in ETH, and $10 million in XRP/TRX. However, these have not yet been confirmed by Liquid. The exchange has announced that it will provide regular updates on the incident.
