Cryptocurrency-related job openings are on the rise in 2021

The number of cryptocurrency-related job offers is growing

The study comes to us from trading simulator Cryptoparrot, which details which cryptocurrency-related jobs are on the rise. From September 2020 to July 2021, blockchain-related job openings grew by +118%, but not in all sectors.

Notably, development-related jobs still account for the largest share of offers (29.7%), but it’s dropping from last year, when it was 34.8%. The area that is growing the most is human resources, with +200% of job offers. This can be interpreted as a sign that companies are consolidating over time.

Marketing and finance jobs are also up significantly (+105% and +100% respectively). However, industrial engineering and design and documentation jobs are among the few areas to have fewer vacancies this year.

As the analysis notes, this breakthrough in cryptocurrency-related jobs comes as the markets have risen overall over the past 12 months. Bitcoin (BTC), for example, has gained +407% over the period, and Ether (ETH) is up +1071%. So this may have allowed companies to spend the money to hire new recruits.

Cryptoparrot also notes that while positions are in high demand – especially those of developers – they don’t always manage to get filled. This is because the majority of cryptocurrency professionals have done their schooling on their own, with very little training still existing in the field.

The result is that in the cryptocurrency industry, the demand from companies still often outnumbers the number of candidates that could fit these types of jobs. Once the education field catches up, however, this should even out. And that could continue to drive new blockchain projects, according to the analysis:

While organizations are still figuring out the fundamental role of blockchain technology, the breakthrough in job postings Shows that the sector is maturing. »
