The film project “Ethereum: The Infinite Garden” receives donations amounting to 1.8 million US dollars. In total, the documentary took in over 1,000 ETH via crowdfunding.
The documentary “Ethereum: The Infinite Garden” has scored a massive financial success even before its premiere. Via crowdfunding, the film project raised 1,035.96 ETH, which is currently over $1.8 million. The original target was just under 750 ETH. Effectively, however, “only” 984.16 Ether of the ETH raised went to the documentary, as the filmmakers announced on their Twitter profile:
And that’s it, 984.16 ETH were raised for the film. 31.08 ETH will go to @gitcoin, 20.72 ETH to @Carbonfund.org. THANK YOU to everyone who supported us and congrats to our new producers. Now let’s make a movie!

With the participation in the crowdfunding, they want to support open source Ethereum projects as well as set a sign for climate protection. This is because the Carbonfund.org initiative is primarily dedicated to reducing global carbon emissions.
Ethereum as an ecosystem with plants and insects
The call for donations was launched last Wednesday. Three days later, on Friday, July 16, the fundraising already ended. A total of 662 donors made donations. In addition to thank-you notes, the producers are also giving the three most generous donors a place in the credits, which will be shown at the end of the film. It is unclear, however, who was able to snag the coveted three spots.
As the title suggests, the documentary covers the Ethereum network. In doing so, the documentary aims to address the “innovative real-world applications of the Ethereum blockchain, the die-hard community of enthusiasts and developers, and its creator Vitalik Buterin.” In doing so, the film aims to move away from the elusive technological narrative and towards a colorful ecosystem of “plants, fruited soil, and insects.” To what extent the producers succeed in making this comparison comprehensible remains to be seen. The community is excited and eagerly awaits the premiere in winter 2023.
Meanwhile, the premiere of Ethereum 2.0 is still a long time coming. At the beginning of the month, Sygnum Bank was the first financial service provider to announce its intention to offer staking for its customers in the new network.
