Vitaliki Buterin encouraged his followers on Twitter to ask him any questions they wanted, which translated into a short AMA (Ask Me Anything).

Among the messages he responded to was a question about what he regrets most about Ethereum.

When was Ethereum created?

The Ethereum network was launched on July 30, 2015. In just six years, ETH has become the second most popular cryptocurrency, and its price has risen from a historical low of $0.43 to the current $3,781.56 (ATH four months ago was as high as $4,356.99). Buterin is primarily associated with the project, but it is worth remembering that he was one of the eight co-founders. Among them was also Charles Hoskinson, about whom we wrote recently in the article Unruly Hoskinson | Why he was kicked out of Ethereum? From the very beginning, however, it is Vitalik Buterin

who continuously remains the face of the project.

What does the creator of Ethereum regret?

This year, at the age of 27, Vitalik Buterin was hailed as the second youngest billionaire in the world who earned his fortune from scratch (the first is Austin Russell, who became a billionaire in 2020 at the age of 26). Despite his immense wealth and significant impact on the entire cryptocurrency industry, Buterin doesn’t hide the fact that there is something he regrets that is related to Ethereum. It’s about the issue with the eight co-founders and the need to choose them quickly (you can find the details of this issue in the aforementioned article about the unruly Hoskinson).

“The whole ‘8 cofounders’ thing (and choosing them so quickly and nondiscriminately).

What would Vitalik Buterin be doing if he hadn’t created Ethereum?

If Ethereum had not been created, Buterin would probably be busy designing a modern social media platform. He also admitted that his stay in Singapore last year changed him a lot and allowed him to be alone with his own thoughts, something he didn’t have time for before.

“I feel like my huge span of time in Singapore last year changed me quite a bit. It was interesting to just… be by myself and with my own thoughts for the first time in nearly a decade”.
